1. ASIA HOUSE FILM FESTIVAL

The Asia House Film Festival returns for its seventh year, with premieres of dynamic and challenging cinema from across the Asia Pacific region – from Cambodia to Japan and from Mongolia to Vietnam. This year’s theme of ‘New Generations’ reflects on emerging new talents, new styles, new landscapes and new modes of film production across the whole of the continent.

4. LETTERS OF NOTE, LIVE ON STAGE

Beautiful website Letters of Note collects poignant, hilarious, incredibly personal letters. A new show called Letters Live brings them to life in stunning Grade II listed art deco building, Freemasons’ Hall. A line-up of stars will be reading their favourite letters, with appearances from Benedict Cumberbatch and Louise Brealey will be joined by Matt Berry, Caitlin Moran and more. They will be reading such diverse treats as David Bowie’s enthusiastic letter to his first American fan and Che Guevara’s revolutionary words to his children

5. SCALEXTRIC CLUB NIGHT

To celebrate Penguin books’ 80th birthday, they’re re-imagining some of their favourite stories at a big party in East London. The night will be filled with literary-inspired performances, games and quizzes as hidden stories are drawn out of books you’ll know.
