TASCHEN Store London appoints Unity for super sale campaign

Creative agency Unity – named the Best Consumer PR Agency in the World at the 2013 and 2014 Global SABRE Awards – has been appointed by the London store of luxury art book publisher TASCHEN to publicise its January Sale.

The campaign – taking place in January 2015 – will showcase the bargains to be found in the publisher’s “luxury flea market”. This special January super sale is taking place at TASCHEN stores globally (in Cologne, Amsterdam, Los Angeles, New York, Paris and beyond) with Unity working on the brand’s sale in its Chelsea store. The sale sees huge reductions on some of the most stylish and critically acclaimed books in publishing history.

TASCHEN was founded in Cologne in 1980 by Benedikt Taschen. It was initially focused on comic books but soon grew to become a world-wide force in making lesser-seen art available to mainstream bookstores; across photography, art, design, history, film, architecture and more. The brand’s mission is to publish innovative and beautifully designed art books at popular prices, although it has sold some of the most expensive books in history. Famously TASCHEN published the $15,000, 75lbs, 700-page Greatest Of All Time – a tribute to Muhammad Ali. Der Spiegel called this “the biggest, heaviest, most radiant thing ever printed in the history of civilisation”.

TASCHEN opened its first store in London in 2007 and moved to its present home in Duke of York’s Square in October 2008. Designed by Philippe Stark the store also features a Gallery downstairs showcasing the Limited Edition Art Prints and Collector’s Edition books that the company is well known for. Since opening the store has held book signings with Sir Paul Smith, Pedro Almodovar, Marc Newson and Sebastiao Salgado.
