Shwopping Love, Mum Campaign

The Unity team have been busy over the last few months planning and preparing for the launch of a brand new campaign for Shwopping – the sustainable fashion initiative we launched with M&S in 2012.

Since then, Oxfam has received 6.9 million items of clothing thanks to Shwopping, worth £4.5 million for the charity, and yesterday saw the launch of a new branch of this campaign called ‘Love, Mum’.

Photographers were battling to get the best shot of our supporters Joanna Lumley, Abbey Clancy and Zoe Ball, who were at the M&S Marble Arch store bright and early with the team to launch the ‘Love, Mum’ activity with a busy photo call attended by all major wires and national newspapers.

‘Love, Mum’, is a new joint campaign from M&S and Oxfam to raise money for mothers living in poverty around the world, and like the original launch will call on the nation to shwop – not bin – unwanted items, of any brand, to M&S stores nationwide in the run up to Mother’s Day.

Unlike the campaign so far though, all the money raised from items shwopped before 31st March 2014 will go to Oxfam’s Mother Appeal – helping mothers around the world lift themselves and their families out of poverty for good. If this wasn’t a worthwhile enough cause already, thanks to the UK government, every pound raised from the items will be doubled! So join us and get shwopping!
